Mission Statement
Our mission is to help support and
improve the physical well-being of individuals in our service area who might
otherwise go hungry for reasons beyond their control. To this end, we will
provide them with food free of charge, primarily on an emergency basis. We
will encourage and guide them in the selection and preparation of healthful
food. Our service area consists of the Lamoille County Vermont towns of
Eden, Elmore, Hyde Park, Morristown, Stowe and Wolcott.
Organization
Lamoille Community Food Share, Inc. is a 501(c)(3)
non profit corporation. We have a nine member board of directors who
meet monthly to establish policy. We have one part time paid
employee who runs the pantry and provides liaison with various
public and private groups. Pantry
Our pantry is located at 197 Harrel Street in Morrisville, Vermont.
We are next door to the Central Vermont Community Action office and the
Community College of Vermont. Our pantry hours are 9-11:30 AM Monday through Friday
and 9:30-11:00 AM on Saturdays.
Directions
From the intersection of Routes 100 and
15 in Morrisville, head East on Route 15 and take your
first right onto Munson Ave (between Price Chopper and
Big Lots). Go to Stop sign at end and turn left onto
Harrel St then the first left into the parking lot. The
pantry is on the left.
Clients
In 2007 we served 629 families
who made a total of 2036 visits to the pantry. Those families represent 1214
adults (66 of whom were over 65 years of age) and 734 children. In 270 of those families
at least one person was working.
Volunteers
The Food Share’s ability to meet client needs
is dependent on the dedicated support of some 40 volunteers. These women and men perform a
variety of functions, the most important of which is serving clients in the
pantry. Their other activities include transporting goods from suppliers,
collecting donated food and cash from various sources, stocking shelves and
recordkeeping. If you are interested in volunteering contact us at 888-6550 or lcfoodshare@pshift.com
